Three of us went to the Rio Grande Valley on March 26-30, 2023 to learn more about immigration and to serve.

Sunday, March 26

2:00 pm – Leave Woodland
6:00 pm – Check in to hotel
6:30 pm – Dinner at local restaurant in Harlingen

Monday March 27 — McAllen TX

9:00 am – 12 noon – Volunteer at Catholic Charities Respite Center (bring a mask, if you would like to bring toiletry items (hotel size) or shoe laces to donate please feel free to do so)
12 noon – 1:00 pm – Lunch
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm – Visit Mission Levee (Border Wall)
3:00 pm – 5:00 pm – Visit the Colonias with Puentes de Cristo
6:00 pm – Dinner and debrief

Tuesday March 28 — Harlingen, Texas

9:00 am -11:00 am – Visit the Border Patrol Station
12 noon – 1:00 pm – Lunch
2:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Visit the immigration court
6:00 pm – 7:00 pm – Visit unaccompanied migrant children shelter with Valley Baptist, Missions and Education Center
7:00 pm – Dinner and debrief

Wednesday, March 29 – Brownsville, Texas

9:00 am – 10:00 am – Visit the Border wall & the Gateway International Bridge
10:00 am-12 noon – Visit Iglesia Bautista West Brownsville’s Respite Center, Brownsville’s Bus Station.
12 noon -1:30 pm – Lunch
1:30 pm -3:00 pm – TBD
3:00 pm – 4:30 pm – Volunteer at the Southwest Good Samaritan
6:00 pm – Dinner and debrief

Thursday, March 30

8:00 am – Check out and head to Woodland
12 noon – Arrive at  Woodland
