Grew up In Houston, Texas as a small child, Austin during Junior High through College.  Although a music major at UT Austin, switched to business along the way.  Married, had one daughter then divorced.  Was the first non-commissioned woman In Texas In the 70’s to hold a senior management position In law enforcement for the Austin Police Department.  Pioneered three retail businesses In Austin In the mid-1980’s then moved to California for 12 years and assisted business owners Increase their profitability.  Worked In the dot.com computer Industry In the ’90s, lived In the wine country for a couple of years and then moved to North Carolina with daughter and her family in 2001.  Worked In senior management, project management and accounting for large corporations, small businesses, and non-profits.

Tried to retire In 2012, but continue to take on contract work In project management, donor management and accounting.  Relocated to San Antonio In 2019 to be near daughter Jennifer and Granddaughter Allison, who graduates from UT San Antonio In May 2021.

Currently consult with Woodland Baptist Church, an association In North Carolina, and two non-profits In North Carolina.

Manage the accounting functions Including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and Investments.

I was the Finance Director for a non-profit.  The Executive Director was a bully and Intimidated staff, called them out In front of other employees, belittled them, and never was remorseful.   Even with the backing of the Board of Directors and complaints from two senior managers, we resigned and she stayed.  Six months later she was fired, but It was too late for the board to reinstate me.  My lesson Is to stand up for what Is right, and remove yourself from situations that are unhealthy for you.

You can live for the moment, but just remember that you may be a senior citizen someday taking care of yourself.  Start paying yourself with every paycheck for savings for your future.  If you learn to save early on, you may have amassed a nice retirement when you need It.

I had my first piano when I was 6, took voice lessons at 10, sang In every choir I could find growing up, majored In vocal performance at UT Austin, performed In musicals at Zilker park, Injured vocal chords In a church choir In Menlo Park, California In 1992.  Still sing and play piano for own pleasure, but no public singing.
