Beloved Community

Beloved Community Graphic

“The early Christians rejoiced when they were deemed worthy to suffer for what they believed. In those days the Church was not merely a thermometer that recorded the ideas and principles of popular opinion; it was a thermostat that transformed the mores of society.”

― Martin Luther King Jr., Letter from the Birmingham Jail

Justice doesn’t just happen. It takes work. It takes work from people who have the power and those who demand more. No one is too small. No one is too ‘unconnected’ or ‘unimportant’ to add to the work of God in the world.

To be agents of justice in this world we must be well equipped for the mission. At Woodland, every member is a minister. Ministers work for equity and justice for all. We work so that all have a place at God’s table and know they are welcome there. This is not about shaming one group or another. This initiative is invitational. We can make a difference. You are invited to be a part of healing and creating beloved community.

We will

PRAY, WATCH, READ, & ENCOUNTER

Understand injustice to create the peace God dreams for this world.

We all like to think if we lived during the time of slavery that we would have been abolitionists. How many more black and brown lives must be lost before we speak up for justice today? We have a chance now to live out the conviction that all are created in the image of God.
