Student Spring Break Trip
When we arrived in Dallas, we saw the movie A Wrinkle in Time and discussed it while waiting in line for rides at 6 Flags Over Texas. We talked about how perfect love drives out fear (1 John 4:18). And that everyone has gifts, but they are not worth anything without using them.
At Group Dynamix we discovered CLAPS: Communication, Listening, Attitude, Patience, Synchronization by playing a game. We talked about how those items applied here (with this game) and there (other areas of our lives like family and school). Our students had great insights!
At the Dallas Arts District Urban Adventure Quest, we enjoyed seeing the sights and learning a little history. We also discovered that when you don’t use CLAPS, things can break down. When you don’t have a clear leader, the tasks are more challenging than they should be. But, we pulled it all together and completed our challenge!
We all now know what Whirlyball is and enjoyed the chaos of steering our whirlybugs and scoring points. Whirlyball is cross between bumper cars, soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. It is as wild as it sounds and lots of fun!
We sorted about 150 pairs shoes at the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid. These shoes will be distributed all over the world — including our notes of love and encouragement we wrote and put in each pair of shoes. We finished with the “Barefoot Experience,” a tiny taste of what it is like to walk barefoot in three different countries.
The photos below capture just a little of our time together.
