Arden Courts Ministry – Arden Courts is a facility that houses Alzheimer’s patients and is located across the street from Woodland. Our church goes there every Wednesday afternoon to lead a 30-minute worship service of old favorite hymns and a devotional.
Financial Peace University – In early January each year, Woodland hosts this financial class, led by Dave Ramsey on video which teaches biblical principles regarding personal finance. It is a life-changing class that teaches couples and singles how to handle money in such a way that financial peace can be found.
Habitat for Humanity – Every two years, Woodland partners with Covenant Baptist Church to build a Habitat for Humanity home with a family in need. Through a combination of budget and designated offerings, Woodland donates the cost of a house and provides over 100 volunteers for 7 consecutive Saturdays.
Kids Hope USA – Volunteers from Woodland provide mentoring to children at nearby Larkspur Elementary School, along with some funding. Please click here to learn more about Kids Hope USA. By providing mentors for one hour a week, Woodland builds caring and loving relationships to help meet the emotional, social and academic needs of at-risk children.
Palmer Drug Abuse Program (PDAP) – PDAP is a 12-step, faith-based program whose mission is to help teens, young adults, and their families overcome the effects of mind-changing chemicals while assisting the community through partnerships in education and prevention. Woodland provides financial support and partners with PDAP regarding education and prevention. For testimonies of WBC families who have been touched by PDAP, please click here.
San Antonio Rescue Mission (SARM) – This organization provides food, shelter and support to homeless men. Woodland provided funding, feeds on six Fridays each year, and leads worship services on a regular basis. The first Fridays of even-numbered months are usual times that we take food.
Walk for Hunger is an annual walk to raise funds for the food banks at many San Antonio Baptist Churches.
Woodland’s Global Women seek to engage women of all ages in a focused missional effort addressing the perspectives and needs of women. By creating global friendships among women for shared learning and service, WGW actively works to discover ways to meet the needs of the profoundly unreached women of the world, share missional experiences in different contexts and to pray together for these needs and Woodland’s response to them. Working with a variety of ministry groups such as Med Missions, Woodland Global Women have extended the missional reach of the church exponentially.
